James C. Birdsong, Jr. an aspiring gospel vocalist, songwriter, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, advocate for our children and author of The Best is Yet to Come, will be guest on London’s GosMopolitan weekend show, Saturday July 4, 2020. James C. Birdsong JR, is a native of Richmond, CA, his efforts have caught the attention and respect of politicians, community, media and entertainment leaders and luminaries.
Mr. Birdsong was the great-nephew of the late Rev. Sidney Birdsong, Sr., a respected icon who served as the pastor of the historical Solid Rock Baptist Church in Los Angeles from 1959 to his death in 1976. A graduate of Fairfield High School in Fairfield, CA, Mr. Birdsong earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Education at Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, GA. He is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Marketing at the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ.
His memberships of major music organizations include the Gospel Music Workshop of America Atlanta Chapter (GMWA), the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy (SAGMA) and the Gospel Music Association (GMA Dove Awards). He is working on his next book for youth as a discussion of various topics they face today from dating and relationships to the hip-hop culture and advice on how to enrol in college. The book is scheduled for publication in 2021.
In honor of his inexhaustible energy and zeal for gospel music and providing an effective community role model, Mr.Birdsong has been the recipient of nearly innumerable proclamations from various cities throughout the country, including the city of Atlanta, the city of Bossier City, Louisiana, the city of Compton, California, the city of LosAngeles, the city of Marietta, Georgia, the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, and the city of Richmond, California.Moreover, he has also received acknowledgements from several state senate houses, namely the California State Senate, the Texas State Senate, the Georgia State Senate and the Louisiana State Senate, including many other such declarations from myriad congressional bodies across the United States.
Likewise, Mr. Birdsong was presented with an Award of Honor from Fairfield High School, a Blue Ribbon Honoree Award from Nystrom Elementary School, a certificate of appreciation from the Albert T. Mills Enrichment Center of Atlanta, and a Gospel Music Industry Award from the Black Essence Awards, to name only a few.
Mr. Birdsong pursued a Bachelor of Arts in biblical education from Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, which he
successfully obtained in 2010. He was additionally ordinated as a pastor by the Covenant Covering Christian
Fellowship in 2015, and received a standard teacher’s diploma by the Evangelical Training Association in Calumet
City, Illinois, in 2010. Mr. Birdsong first received his minister’s license from World Christianship Ministries in
Fresno, California in 2002. To further support his career, he has avidly maintained his professional affiliation with the
Global United Fellowship, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Gospel Music
Workshop of America, the GMA Dove Awards through the Gospel Music Association in Nashville, and the Stellar
Awards through the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy in Chicago.
