Meet Karen Owusu-Addo (Mrs), an international mobile hairstylist from West London. Karen was a special guest on faith channel radio`s Gospel breakfast, last weekend 31st of August 2019. Karen Owusu-Addo of Candescent Crown, in an interview with NYG, host of the morning show, shared with listeners how she was inspired to become an international hairstylist. Candescent Crown has been years in the making, rooting from the simple desire that people should look and feel as beautiful as they already are. As the eldest of two sisters, Karen has always had a sense of duty in ensuring that herself and her sisters never left the house looking or feeling less than the Queens that they are. Starting with doing simple styles like braids (single plaits and twists) to teaching herself how to not only install her own weave but dye and style it, eventually causing her to venture into wig making. This passion for doing hair so well and learning different tricks to make hair look stylish and modern meant that Karen has been well sought out from not only her younger sisters, but aunties, friends, cousins and contacts in and around her life. What is most important for her is that, despite giving everyone the ability to look good, she maintains the passion for nurturing and promoting health in natural hair. Experimenting with and finding what works to keep her own natural hair healthy, Karen has been very innovative in understanding the needs of hair and the essentials in maintaining it. After years of hairdressers not knowing how to treat natural hair well, Karen invested in her own research and learnt the importance of protective styling and learning how to style her natural hair in ways that would allow it to shine in its natural form.
